I'm sure you've all heard of The Giants Causeway, Belfast City Hall & even Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge...but have you heard of the Magic Road at Spegla Dam?

The majestic landscape of Northern Ireland is full of surprises, including the magical road at Spegla Dam in the Heart of the Mourne Mountains. Here you can discover a hidden road that seems to roll uphill – an illusion (or is it!) that has entertained visitors for years!

Discover the magical power of the Mourne Mountains as it defies gravity! Travel downhill, turn off your car's engine and release the handbrake to let physics take over. Roll backwards in amazement as you experience an unlikely journey up a hill without ever turning on your motor!

A lesser-known but really fun little side trip for you as you experience some of the best tourist attractions the North of the Island has to offer. Scenes from Game of Thrones were also filmed just down the road, as was the Viking Saga the Northman and Your Highness featuring a well-known Ms Portman.

Spegla Dam

Spelga Dam is located in the Mourne Mountains of County Down, Northern Ireland. It was built in 1960 as part of a project to supply water to Belfast. The dam is known for its ability to make cars roll up the hill due to its unique design. Recently, the summer heatwave caused the water levels to drop so low that it revealed a hidden Victorian road beneath the reservoir. Visitors can take a day trip to explore this area and experience its scenic views and hiking trails. Spelga Dam is an interesting place with a rich history that many people enjoy exploring.
